Total moving costs in the UK typically range from £5,000 to £30,000+ depending on the property price. Stamp duty is usually the biggest cost for higher-value properties, followed by estate agent fees if selling, solicitor fees, and then survey and removal costs.
Conveyancing fees for buying typically cost £1,000 to £2,000 plus VAT for legal work, plus disbursements (searches, land registry fees) of £200 to £700. Total costs are usually £1,500 to £3,000. Online conveyancers are often cheaper but may offer less personal service.
